FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I missed the final deadline. Can I still submit my project?
No worries. We offer deadline waivers (though not fee waivers). If our programming isn’t finalized, we can provide you with a waiver code. You’ll just need to pay the Last Call submission rate.

What is the selection process?
We have a panel of 12 international judges. Each entry is reviewed by at least 8 judges. Only entries with a cumulative score of 8.0 (out of 10) or higher are selected.

If I wish to withdraw my submission, are there refunds?
Unfortunately, no. The submission fee covers our judges’ time and once your project is submitted, it is eligible for review.

Can I update my cover art or project image?
Yes. We will update your cover art within two weeks of the festival by request only. Please reach out to us directly if you’d like an update made.

Can you recommend hotel accommodations?
Yes. The festival is held at Southwest Theaters Lake Creek 7 in North Austin. We recommend the Lone Star Court Hotel at the Domain. It’s a retro boutique hotel that is very popular, so book early.

What comes with my selection?
Selections receive a VIP badge, which includes:

  • Reserved seating

  • Eligibility for over 30 awards

  • Participation in filmmaker and screenwriter Q&As

  • Promotion of your project on our website and social media

How do I pick up my VIP badge?
We’ll have a guest list with all official selections. Simply check in at the front desk, present your ID, and your badge will be waiting for you.

How many passes do I get with my selection?
Each selection comes with one VIP badge for your screening block. Due to limited capacity and our support for the Autism Society of Texas, additional guests will need to purchase tickets.

Where can I find the schedule?
The schedule will be posted on our website one week before the event. Stay tuned.

I won an award, but I did not attend or I left before the award ceremony. Can you mail it to me?
We encourage all winners to attend and stay for the ceremony. If you cannot, we will email you a digital copy of your award. If your award includes a plaque, we can ship it to you. Shipping costs must be covered by the recipient.

Is there a dress code?
There is no official dress code. With a professional photographer, red carpet, and step-and-repeat banner, many guests dress up, but you are encouraged to express yourself however you like.

Is there a livestream or virtual festival?
No. We focus on the live experience and the exclusivity of our premieres. We encourage family and friends to attend in person to support filmmakers.
