Best of friends Biggs and Butts are two huge, aging, rough-and-tumble professional basketball players for a big-market NBA team. They are merciless towards their opponents, professional and personal, and disarmingly charming to most everyone else. Biggs is becoming ever more troubled about his separation
from his wife Diana and its effect on their six year-old son Jason. Diana has a longstanding objection to all the time Biggs spends with his buddy Butts at the expense of their marriage and family. After Diana returns from a trip to Europe, Biggs learns she is seeing a very attractive, wealthy foreigner named Neville. Despite Butts urging to the contrary, Biggs entertains a mighty distrust of Neville and his intentions toward Diana. He and Butts confront Neville and Diana in a restaurant, deepening the rift. Noting Diana’s anger at his aggressive approach, Biggs decides to change tactics and invite Diana and Neville to the launch party
of his and Butts’ new music company. Diana is hesitant to attend, but their young son Jason encourages her to go. The encounter does not unfold well and Neville pulls a gun on Biggs, to Diana’s surprise. Afterwards, ignorant of the fact that Diana has broken up with Neville over the gun incident, Biggs and Butts surprise Neville in a massage parlor, disarm him and leave him with a stern warning to stop seeing Diana. After a botched attempt on Biggs’ life during one of his basketball games, Neville arrives unannounced at Diana’s home with an offer and a revelation. A horrified Diana learns of Neville's plot to set off a terrible biological weapon that night at an affair to be attended by both government officials and celebrities. Rejected again by Diana, Neville kidnaps Jason, leaving Biggs and Butts no alternative but to intervene to try to save Jason and stop Neville’s terrible plan during a final rooftop conflict. They must succeed or doom millions to a particularly gruesome end.
