Aditya is the new kid at his Midwestern high school who gets off on the wrong foot just trying to fit in. But after deciding to take charge of his life and be more like his hero Shah Rukh Khan, Aditya realizes you can’t keep chasing cinematic fantasies every time life gets hard, because sometimes those fantasies will chase you back. Now he has to navigate questions about his family life, his future, and his sexuality all against the backdrop of some of the most famous movies in Indian cinema, as pivotal moments in his life play out as song-and-dance numbers from the very Bollywood movies that he uses to escape.
